62 # New direction, new future for the series and Karbush TV

As of January 3, 2024, Pavel and the Karbush Film Company will no longer be moving toward Roku, as the SVO is not over, and adaptation to the Russian market and promotion to the global market is a whole new universe of development for their video resources.

What does this mean? It means that since January 2023, Pavel has been developing his online cinema, Karbush TV, for watching amateur films, short films, and films and series from independent directors.

And of course, the face of Karbush TV is the series Another Reality itself.

First of all, this is an excellent example for those who want to shoot their own projects.

Secondly, Karbush TV is an excellent platform for those who have compared themselves, even slightly, to Pasha Latushkin.

So, if you have your own film, then welcome to join us. Come and earn money with us!

Pavel and the KARBUSH Film Company itself have put an end to this: no more distributors, film markets, or film festivals, only their own forces and their own platforms.

From now on, only our own websites for 256 countries, only our own online cinema brand, Karbush TV, billing (payment service), and promotion of directors around the world.

As a result, the first season started in Russia and around the world in April 2023.

The second and third seasons are getting ready for release.

News from May 9, 2024: If filming does continue, it will be with a new cast, and all filming for Season 4 that began during the 2020 pandemic will be included in the final version of the Season 3 finale.

Development of our own online cinemas continues; it’s not a quick process, as Pavel is developing it himself.

He also needs to live and eat, so he continues to work part-time building websites, as his personal business is on hold due to the coronavirus.

All details are on the official websites.

61 # The market continues to change, as do all personal plans for the series and for Karbush TV

The good news ends because we forget that in our lives there will always be black and white stripes, and they can alternate very often, especially when they alternate several times a day)))

Pavel managed to make a decent pilot episode for the first season, and in general, thanks to the fact that they got together again for additional filming in 2022, everything is fine with the first season.

The first season is ready to premiere right now in April 2023.

And now the latest information about the current cast, and if the first seasons are successful, the following actors will take part in Season 4: Alexandra Afanasyeva, Sofia Mogil, Sergey Voronov, Nikita Orlov, Natalya Smirnova, Pavel Latushkin, Anastasia Antsiferova, Anna Dan, Vladimir Plotsky, Danil Alekseev, Konstantin Kalinin, Lyubov Vinogradskaya, Vladimir Semenov, Anatoly Pasevich, and Vitaly Orover.

As for the bad news, Pavel Latushkin’s business has gone bankrupt, so there’s no point in implementing these major projects until the SVO ends and the sanctions issues are resolved.

60 # Pursue your dreams and never give up…

Pavel began working on his own business collecting and processing radio components containing precious metals, and set a goal to raise enough money to fully film the fourth season and develop the Karbush TV app.

It’s already August 2022 – and the same problem is looming: the first episode of the first season isn’t very good and needs to be reworked – or the entire editing needs to be changed and put together as an anthology!

From spring 2021 to August 2022, Pavel invited two more new actors to the set: Sergei Baturin and Slava Bogomolov (who played important, albeit small, roles). Sergei Bubnov, Alexandra Afanasyeva, Sofya Mogil, Sergei Voronov, and Pavel Latushkin himself were also invited a couple of times to complete the filming and expand on the plot of the first season.

Unfortunately, the KARBUSH Film Company doesn’t have assistants, consultants, or other specialists with whom to discuss and vote on scenes that could be retained in the final version. Therefore, Pavel alone decided which scenes would remain and edited the series as he saw fit.

The Roku streaming service, specifically the Karbush TV channel, has temporarily suspended its broadcasts, again due to the extremely high costs of maintaining Karbush TV.

Plus, there’s no way to enable billing in the app due to a global block on currency transactions due to a SPECIAL OPERATION.

That is, right now there is a general threat of the impossibility of premiering the series and Karbush TV to a global audience.

Therefore, we will now have to restructure the market and first adapt the series for the RUSSIAN VIEWER (for this purpose, Pavel signed a distribution contract in April 2022 for the promotion and premiere of the series (first season) with the BST.PRO company (this is a new contract; the previous contract with Media Technologies LLC was terminated).

59 # Problems or is this another new stage in the series…

After his sick leave, the crew didn’t return to filming because Pavel’s health deteriorated (frequent colds, three times a month) and he was thrown off balance. He didn’t devote any time to the series or the premiere, as he was still having some minor problems in his radio parts business and needed to go on a business trip to deal with bigger issues.

Pavel endured for a long time, and on March 2, 2021, he broke down and flew back to Sochi (closer to warmth and sun), where he recovered and took up truly worthwhile work.

Pavel created an account and channel, Karbush TV, on the American streaming service ROKU (which has expanded its reach to 40 million households). He posted clips from the series and began gaining viewers, while simultaneously developing an app for ROKU to make paid access to the series possible.

In just one month, the Karbush TV channel in ROKU gained over 5,000 subscribers eager to purchase a subscription to the series and enjoy watching it.

But you need to connect billing to this channel, and to do this you need to create your own real application, which costs 1 million rubles and 6 months of development (and that’s an additional expense)

In general, this market is good because there is no need to advertise anything; viewers come themselves, they themselves want to watch such series and films.

Pavel set a goal and went to earn money for his dream.

58 # Is this the 4th season?

So, the new cast of season 4, and by the way, Sofia Mogil has returned to the project – and joined the others.

The cast includes Alexandra Afanasyeva, Sofia Mogil, Vitaly Orover, Pavel Latushkin, Konstantin Kalinin, Victoria Shanko, Sergey Voronov, Lyubov Vinogradskaya, and Anastasia Rylina.

At that time, Pavel maintained a good relationship with Mrs. Natela Olegovna Polezhaeva and begged for the former Rassvet Sanatorium for the filming of the 4th season of the series Universe (he chose this name only because of such a large plot already filmed) and in the plot and from the lips of the characters the expression “Selena-Universe” often appeared.

For half a month (namely, for 5 filming days – Pavel spent a little over 500,000 rubles on filming one and a half episodes, this is the largest amount spent in the entire existence of the project), but this amount was not final, since the fees of the main characters were not included in this amount, although previously the budget for one episode was about 15 thousand rubles.

And some films, like Cursed (2016), cost around 70 thousand rubles.

From September 26, 2020, filming was halted due to the quarantine, and many actors, including director Pavel Latushkin himself, fell ill with acute respiratory infections, even though the Covid-19 pandemic was in full swing at the time.

While Pavel was on sick leave, he watched all the footage that had been filmed for the 4th season and was surprised – hooray, success… The investment completely justified the final material that turned out.

We will no longer consider ourselves Amateurs, and the series has become better.

Because Pavel felt absolutely wonderful on set, there was a professional cameraman, lighting, sound, assistants, the only thing missing was an assistant who would bring the director’s coffee (Pavel laughs).

Afterwards, Pavel happily wrote the outline for the entire fourth season and announced that as soon as the series starts and all three seasons are released, we’ll continue filming the fourth season, as it deserves to be. The quality we’ve achieved is the result of the investment we’ve made over the project’s 10 years—the team’s growth and professionalism have truly taken hold! And that’s a source of pride!

57 # Vacation and Wintering in the South of Russia

In November 2019, Pavel left Omsk and went to Sochi to recuperate, where he stayed until the end of April 2020. In February, he met in Sochi on business with Anton Shevchenko, a former participant in the 2012 series.

Pavel and Anton made the important decision that the film “Cult” would be included in the plot as the first pilot episode of the first season, so they got together and re-shot all the occult scenes.

But then this union broke up and Pavel returned home.

After weighing all the pros and cons, it was decided that the project-series would be called Universe and the series would start immediately with a QUADROLOGY, that is, 4 seasons.

Many supported this initiative, and filming of the FOURTH SEASON began only in mid-September 2020.

56 # And then whatever happens with the series…

Pavel got what he wanted: he shot an entire trilogy, plus old footage from 2010-2012.

As a result, Pavel ended up with a three-season anthology, where all the plots, all the puzzles, and all the secrets were supposed to come together, so all that’s left is to edit it properly and begin releasing the TRILOGY of the series to the masses.

But Pavel was mostly busy with his personal affairs (perhaps to the detriment of everyone who left the project, or perhaps simply to rest and return to the series with a clear and sober head).

The summer of 2019, as usual, was no longer the same. There was no filming, no casting, and no real editing.

There was a general lack of clarity about what to do next… since Pavel had big plans, and without the main characters, there was no point in continuing to film the series. There was also no point in releasing the series, since, despite filming all three seasons (the main plots that were planned for filming did not happen), they filmed literally everything except the main ending.

Therefore, the respite (silence) continued until March 2020.

55 # A busy 2018 awaits!

Bastards was in hibernation mode in the winter and spring of 2018 – until summer 2018 arrived and Pavel Latushkin informed the entire cast that they needed to gather one last time, film a THIRD SEASON with a proper ending, and let the general premiere of the series kick off a TRILOGY!

It’s possible that the series will only have three seasons, and it’s fair to assume so, especially since the series hasn’t premiered to a mass audience in its eight years.

Empty distributor contracts that brought neither money nor any positive action towards the series’ piggy bank – January 13, 2015 – OOO TV Partners, April 25, 2017 – OOO NPC MONO, August 2016 – Kedoo Entertainment, August 9, 2014 – Orasi Media, May 2017 – leomarkstudios – completely discouraged Pavel from moving in this direction.

Pavel finally admitted defeat in the business, but he never doubted his project or his creative abilities, even if they were amateur ones!

Summer 2018, filming of the 3rd final season – the following cast was waiting for us – Alexandra Afanasyeva, Alexander Gudkov, Natia Fedorova, Alexey Kit, Alexey Bobrovich, Sofia Mogil, Vitaly Orover, Victoria Shanko, Anton Skipor, Galina Zykova, Denis Antipov, Dmitry Semenov, Kira Vesman, Maria Khrabrostina, Radion Eldrakhanov, Stanislav Gudkov, Viktor Postanchuk, Vladimir Plotsky, and Pavel Latushkin.

This time, Yana Chapaeva only appeared in episodic roles; life took its toll, and Yana began a personal life in which she truly has no time for hobbies.

In the third season, as they say, if the finale is being filmed, then it means that not everything will be alright with the cast either… everything was falling apart at the seams and heads were flying…

The following people ultimately left the project: Yana Chapaeva, Sofia Mogil, Natia Fedorova, Alexey Kit, Radion Eldrakhanov, Kira Vesman, Stanislav Gudkov, Viktor Postanchuk, and Alexander Gudkov, but this time, thank God, the finale was filmed.

54 # Another Reality Renamed Bastards

Filming began in May 2017 and ended in October 2017. At that time, Pavel Latushkin offered actor Yegor Kulesh a role in the sequel to The Cursed, and they began filming The Cursed in parallel and wanted to release it in theaters!

But the Cursed project was suspended due to disagreements with the director, and Yegor Kulesh left the series.

Nothing really happened that was that significant for Pavel Latushkin’s life or for the series “Another Reality,” except that in 2017, the series was renamed “Bastards”!!! The reason is that the plot perfectly fit this catchy and resonant title.

The entire cast voted so hard to make the title “Bastards.”

The entire second season was filmed without any problems; it was easy and free, the plot was unified, and the leading characters throughout the season were Madina and Egor. Alexandra Afanasyeva and Alexander Gudkov added zest and color, and Vitaly Vitalyevich, with his own little other reality, became an unyielding, untouchable, and at the same time intriguing character.

But there was still a small glitch: the quick appearance of actress Sofia Mogil at the beginning and end of the season. In fact, she was only on set twice, so it was decided to continue filming the entire season without her participation.

The second season could arguably be called a total improvisation, as the script with dialogue was only in the first episode and the finale, while the rest of the episodes were just a skeleton script consisting of events. Pavel entrusted the actors with the dialogue, improvising it, and it turned out to be quite interesting to watch the characters. They weren’t just acting; they were living their characters. You could laugh, cry, and be wary…

The finale of the second season was filmed in November 2017, and it was decided to place the scenes filmed for the film Cursed at the very end of the second season.

53 # Season 2 launches, casting for supporting characters announced.

In May, Pavel, with renewed vigor, announced to everyone that he was going to film a SECOND SEASON!

Hooray, the first season is filmed, editing is going well. Of course, there are still questions about the first pilot episode – but all this can be resolved.

The thing is, Pavel wanted to film the second season this summer, in 2017, so as not to waste time and then not have to film the new season in the freezing winter.

The casting didn’t take long, and the team quickly assembled.

And here are the actors who joined the filming of the second season: Yana Chapaeva, Alexandra Afanasyeva, Sofia Mogil, Vitaly Orover, Egor Kulesh, Alexander Gudkov, Natia Fedorova, Pavel Latushkin, Vitaly Marks, Sergey Khlyntsev, Nadezhda Bubnova.

This time, Sergei Bubnov was no longer there; he essentially quit without warning and left the project on his own, without warning the director.

Later, Sergei Bubnov was seen in other Omsk films.
