22 # Key Introduction to an Entrepreneur…

At the end of 2010, Pavel was in the office of the Accent studio, editing a film, and later Oleg Ananyev came into the office. He was looking for Igor Nesmachnykh, and that’s how Pavel met Oleg, told him that he was organizing a film studio, told him that he had shot his first film and was preparing it for release.

And already in January 2011, Pavel, together with Oleg Ananyev, opened the LLC “KARBUSH Film Company”, the registration date was January 27, 2011, and Pavel acted from a legal point of view, officially, he was appointed General Director.

The film “Underworld” was renamed “Another Reality” and received a distribution certificate from the Russian Ministry of Culture.

And then, as they say, the winter of 2011 was not in vain. Pavel decided, despite everything, to release and show his film at the Babylon cinema in Omsk.

At that point, the first composer, Vladimir Sharapov, appeared. They communicated with Pavel, who had previously appeared in a cameo role in the film, and it became easier for Pasha to express the plot with such music. They teamed up to ensure the editing was top-notch with a cool musical accompaniment, but later, as it turned out (this was another scam for money; the music did not belong to that person), Pavel cut off all relations (literally with everyone) and immersed himself in editing.

21 # First Closed Screening…
The film was edited and shown privately, only to a select few, at the Omsk Fortress cinema. But this didn’t exactly satisfy everyone. Opinions were divided. Pavel himself felt sorry for this, because he could have chosen the material from this film, but it was better to leave it as is and move on. Most of the others were disappointed, suggesting a different approach—to shoot everything differently. That is, to start over and make a different film.

Pavel made the following decision: before winter finally sets in, he urgently needs to find new actors, a new crew, and try to finish filming properly.

At the same time, another casting was being held – either for the second part of the Underworld, or for the same first film – then Pavel invited new ones, namely – Klim Patrikeev, Gleb Shnaidmiller, Tatyana Kurochkina and others.

He assigned Tatyana Kurochkina as his employee for working with actors.

But this whole story ended very quickly, nothing worked out, complete disappointment, useless attempts to film something worthwhile…

But still, one plot turned out pretty good…

Two guys, supposedly trainee journalists, arrive in the village. They go into the catacombs and into the village house where the couple who wanted a normal family life lived… but they themselves stumbled upon mysticism…

By the way, we’d like to add that Pavel Latushkin and the Omsk Film Studio (the name of the future brand; the company needed to be registered, but for now Pavel worked in filmmaking under a registered sole proprietorship) had small sponsors, patrons, and investors who supported the director’s vision and wanted everything to work out. Therefore, there were some small funds spent on filming. But there was a catastrophic shortage for sets, special effects, and actors’ fees.

20 # A new breath of cinematic air…

Pavel didn’t become discouraged; he needed to move on…

Walking around the shopping mall, he met Igor Nesamnykh, who ran his photo and video studio, Accent.

A little time passed, and Pavel realized that he received great support from his acquaintance and cooperation with Igor and Lyubov Nesmachnykh (they helped, protected, and accepted Pavel as he was in every possible way).

Pavel was allowed to work in their office, invite cultural figures and actors to interviews, and was provided with photo and video equipment and a space to realize his creative goals!

Therefore, in the same 2010, Pavel managed to film several more stories about the strange events taking place in Verkhniy Karbush, so the film was replenished with a new cast and new scenes.

The new cast of the film is Elena Lagoda, Alexander Korzukhin, Sergei Svetetsky, Pavel Latushkin, Alexander Markov, Anastasia Nikitina, Sergei Obozhin.

The filming took place in Verkhniy Karbush. Of course, we were filming a slightly different story, because new people appeared in the team, and Pavel always wanted to write for those people who are now with us at this moment.

They filmed a good story about two lovers in an old house… According to the plot, they both moved to a country house to start building a life… but mysticism ruined all the plans…

This lineup didn’t last long, until the fall of 2010, as Pavel had already held a new casting, and new faces appeared in the film crew – Vitaly Orover, Pavel Chernyavsky, Maria Kharchenko, Igor Supess, and Vladimir Sharapov.

One evening, Pavel Latushkin, Maria Kharchenko, Vladimir Sharapov, and Pavel Chernyavsky gathered at Rostik Studios. Their goal was to write a script and go to filming.

We ate, wrote, and then strolled around the city all night. And the next day, we went to Karbush to shoot.

On this day (namely, the beginning of October 2010), the main plot of the film was being filmed (it involved Pavel Latushkin’s personal home and an abandoned building, which was later nicknamed the catacombs.

19 # Not a good story with the Omsk Lyceum Theatre

Pasha was invited to a general meeting and casting, received with warmth and kindness, and almost all of the Lyceum actors expressed a desire to star in the film (all that remained was to resolve the issue of the theater’s busy schedule).

Therefore, the first cast of the film “Underworld” was as follows – Anastasia Glebova, Natalya Tselevich, Pyotr Volkov, Sergey Obozhin, Sergey Svetetsky, Pavel Latushkin.

The plot required filming how today’s heroes are tormented by vague, old, mystical events from the village… In this story, everyone is involved in a different reality…

But Pavel didn’t rush things and suggested a trial shoot on the theater grounds (specifically, the street and surrounding areas). Over the course of a couple of months, they filmed enough footage to finally decide that the project was moving in the right direction.

Pavel watched all the actors, their performances, their professionalism and returned to the theater to tell the actors that filming was starting in the village of Verkhniy Karbush, that it was time to shoot the entire script (from beginning to end), but a misunderstanding occurred (all the actors literally left the project, and Pavel Latushkin was thrown out of the Lyceum Theater).

The reason why this happened is still unknown; there is only the version from the director himself and a couple of witnesses who are reluctant to believe Pavel’s testimony.

Pavel still, 14 years later, remembers this unpleasant incident as if it happened yesterday. Pavel entered the building to voice his intentions, and some zealous actors literally threw him out, accusing Pavel of stealing a wallet from a woman’s purse, which was readily accessible in the theater’s buffet.

For Pavel, this was, of course, a shock, because this incident occurred at the very moment when everything was ready for full-scale filming.

18 # Idea to turn a short film into a full-length film

But the idea is to create amateur cinema in Omsk, not in Moscow, so you need to go to your hometown of Omsk (and not the village of Verkhniy Karbush – where there are 520 residents)

Pavel went to look for talent and professionals in the city of Omsk itself (bypassing his native village of Verkhniy Karbush)

By the way (the final shots from this short film will be included in the series, namely in the third season)

It all started well. At first, Pavel called all the cultural figures (from wedding videographers to the Omsk Cinema and Video Center and the Cinema and Leisure Association), but the answers were as follows: The idea is good, but in Omsk there are no actors, no special equipment, no directors, and in general – (they said, go study first and then make a film). Although Pavel Latushkin became interested in cinema as a producer, he announced to all the cultural figures of the Omsk region that he wanted to make films and was looking for a director, among other things.

The best advice is for Pavel to go to Moscow. That’s where all the power is, all the strength is there, everything is under control, and that’s where they actually make films. That’s why the Cinema and Video Center and the Cinema and Leisure Association were only willing to show films, but they don’t have the capacity or resources to participate in the filmmaking process.

At the time, Pavel was working part-time at companies like Faberlik and TeleOmsk AKME (these companies gave Pavel Latushkin a major boost in communication skills; he was able to effectively conduct meetings and negotiations) with potential partners and colleagues.

But while he was distracted by futile negotiations, things weren’t moving forward. So in the spring of 2010, Pavel called the Omsk Lyceum Theater and asked for a meeting, specifically a casting call for the film “Hell.”

17 # A gripping story and the same short film

After Pavel made a test film in 2008 called “Hell” (with a small, gripping plot), it was time to move on, as ideas were maturing (days go by, years fly by).

Despite the fact that the 2008 short film is a completely amateur level, it was necessary to invite not street kids, but those who at least somehow understand what filming is, acting training and at least the desire to do – S – seriously (or at least pretend to be serious)))!

This was the beginning of the journey into the World of Cinema, into the World of Another Reality)

The journey continues, and this time we need to go further. First, we need to find equipment, actors, and the most important thing, without which the project won’t survive for long—a budget.

But again, Pavel decided to follow his own thoughts, and these thoughts were driven by his own ambitions. And when creativity itself begins to move him, an even more captivating plot is born.

In the fall of 2009, Pavel invited his longtime friend Sergei Svetetsky to star as the lead character, and Pavel invited Anastasia Stepurina to take the cameraman’s place.

Since there are two people in the story in this short film, and Pavel himself must also take part in the filming as an actor, a videographer is, of course, needed.

So, we got together and filmed the first scenes (again, since this was a fan-made Hellraiser movie, and Pavel was simply in love with the franchise), so the concept of an independent film from Pavel Latushkin was still in development (the script was only ready in small sketches).

Overall, it turned out well; you can tell from the footage that they put in the effort. Everyone got a lot of excitement from the shoot, and ideas for further implementation of the project.

But there’s still work to be done, some tweaking to be done, and after a successful launch, we can begin full-scale filming, with a full cast, crew, assistants, etc., and the plot itself has become more compelling than Hellraiser. And for the film itself to be gripping, we need to raise a budget, and a pretty big one at that.

16 # Where it all began…

The first steps toward his cherished goal were taken back in the summer of 2008, when Pavel Latushkin gathered some local kids from the village of Verkhniy Karbush—Sergey Voronov and…, also the camera operator. The film’s working title was “Hell.” They got together, came up with the idea, filmed it themselves, Pavel edited it, and everyone rejoiced.

Back in 2008, Pavel was watching his favorite horror film, Hellraiser, and as the film’s closing credits rolled, he was amazed by how many people were working on the film. And there were only three of them, so to speak (while in real cinema, there are more than 100 or 200 people).

15 # Film Critics’ Reviews of the TV Series Another Reality

Critic Reviews

As of today, the media and information portals have not yet made reviews and criticism, considering the project empty and talentless, which is exactly how they responded to the film Another Reality in 2011, when Pavel wanted to release the film in Omsk. Read the details here.

14 # Awards and nominations for the series Another Reality

Awards and Nominations

The first award was received for participation in the Moscow horror festival “The Drop” in 2011. A fragment of the film “Cursed 2011” was sent to the festival. The award was received by Pyotr Volkov, an actor from the Omsk Lyceum Drama Theater.

13 # Ratings for the TV series Another Reality

Ratings

It’s too early to talk about ratings, even though the project is 15 years old. There has never been a full premiere in its entire existence, only local releases of some episodes, test screenings of spin-off films, etc.

If we collect all the ratings from the test screenings, we get the following figures, calculated on the YouTube and Smart TV channels: 53% of viewers from the total number who came to the announcement are ready to start watching the series.

And if we’re talking about a paid subscription, then out of 1 million viewers who come, only 2% want to buy a subscription to the series, and that’s 20 thousand viewers!

For example, the series Salem aired on WGN America for three seasons, and the series had 200,000 viewers who subscribed to the channel to watch it. But Salem was a professional project, while ours is independent and amateur.
